Getting to, from and around Liverpool
Arriving in Liverpool
You can arrive in Liverpool via two international airports. They are the Liverpool John Lennon Airport and the Manchester Airport.
John Lennon Airport is under half an hour from Liverpool City Centre by road or 40 minutes by rail. Manchester Airport is a 45-minute car journey from Liverpool.
If you are arriving at a London airport, Virgin Trains offer a direct Liverpool service from London Euston that takes 2 hours and 8 minutes.
Liverpool Lime Street Station is located in the centre of Liverpool, and all city centre attractions are walking distance from the station. ACC Liverpool is a 25-minute walk from the station.
There is a rail service from Manchester Airport to Liverpool. Time table and tickets can be looked up on https://www.the trainline.com. The train takes between 60 to 90 minutes.
Getting to the city from the airport
Liverpool has England’s largest hackney carriage (taxi) fleet outside of London. A black taxi rank is located directly outside the exit from the airport terminal.
Look for the orange ‘Taxi’ light, which means the taxi is in service. If you wish to pay by credit card, some cabs have a ‘chip and pin’ facility. Taxis that offer this service will display ‘Chip, Pin, Go’ signs on the outside of the vehicle.
All taxis can carry at least five passengers and are wheelchair accessible.
There are several buses available from the airport, including the 82A and the 500, that will take you to within 5 minutes walking distance of the venue and which run every 15 minutes.
