Journalists observe Liverpool's latest TB research on Union field trip
Monday 24 October: 10 journalists representing countries including China, Mexico, India, South Africa, and the UK, today were hosted by the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) and the Royal Liverpool Hospital to view the latest developments and research undertaken by both institutions in the fields of tuberculosis (TB) and multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB).
Prof Bertie Squire, Chair in Clinical Tropical Medicine, at LSTM, and an ex President of The Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union), briefed the journalists on the school’s history and current TB work and journalists were also given the opportunity to meet to speak to a number of the School´s students, staff and patients.
The field trip coincided with the 47th Union World Conference on Lung Health, taking place in Liverpool between 26-29 October, and was an initiative of The Union’s media scholarship programme.
